Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs

To meet the demand of the increasing number of international students and frequent contacts with individuals and institutions of higher education overseas, the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs (OICA) coordinates all official university affairs regarding correspondence and visits between ISU and institutions/organizations overseas, and facilitates admission and accommodation of incoming and continuing international students. In addition, OICA drafts protocols and oversees an annual budget for ISU’s internationalization programs and executing a sub-project of the Teaching Excellence Project under the general supervision of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Taiwan.

Over the years, ISU has been an active member in AUAP (Association of Universities of Asia and Pacific), and OICA has played a significant role regarding the university’s participation in international conferences for higher education, such as APRU (Association of Pacific Rim Universities, 2007), and SATU Presidents’ Forum (Presidents’ Forum of Southeast and South Asia and Taiwan Universities, 2007 & 2008). Currently, with the help of OICA, ISU is in the process of joining IAUP (International Association of University Presidents), UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific), Eurasia-Pacific Uninet and other similar international organizations for institutions of higher education.

The OICA is dedicated to increasing the opportunities for students to be in contact with others cultures through our academic curricula, study abroad plans, faculty/ student exchange programs, and international scholars on campus.
